Last Saturday night I was stressed. It was cold and rainy. I had not worked out and had a list a mile long to accomplish. I needed a mood booster. Luckily, at this point, I have come far enough in my journey to know that things like sugar or copious amounts of coffee don't boost my mood, but make it worse. Music always seems to hit the spot.
Being a musician, I have always found that there is just something magical in the progression of finely strung together notes that can change the way I am thinking or feeling. Getting lost in a rhythm, or the words of a melody makes everything seem okay, if even for the three minute duration of the song. Music has been a root source of motivation since I can remember. It can make me weep, make me forget a bad day and most importantly, make me dance. Life is stressful, adulting isn't always fun, so when there is a chance to embrace the things that bring me intense amounts of joy, I take them and one of this things has always been and will always be, music.
