Yesterday was “Fat Tuesday," and I took that day seriously. In fact, the last week and a half I’ve had a hankering for cake every second of the day and a deep desire to grab a fork and literally mount a pastry case at Whole Foods. All of these things helped me realize that my sugar cravings are way out of control. For some reason this winter, even watching what I eat most days, the scale has managed to creep up. For me feeling good means SO much more than my weight. (Something I have worked hard to change.) But the reality is, I have been feeling sluggish and for me that means resetting my mind and body; just in time for SPRING!
Something that has worked for me before is the Whole 30 and I have been wanting to do the challenge since the start of the new year, so what better day to start than TODAY! And who better to do this challenge with than my Seekerhood. SO if you’re anything like me, and want to spend some time renewing your mind and body as we head into spring (and the lenten season,) join me today as we kick off 30 days of refueling, refreshing and recentering. All you have to do is click HERE and join our private group! We'll post daily (you can too!) and help keep one another on track! Oh and what is the Whole 30? You can check out the specifics HERE! We will of course add our own spin on it too, like distressing help and mind enhancing fun! Here is to living life well in mind, mood & body this spring! xoxo Lucia

One thing I have found in my seeking process is that nothing beats the feeling of laughing. It reminds me not to take myself too seriously and that hope exists even in the darkest of times. Neurologically, laughter increases the endorphins in your brain chemistry, making you feel happier and more well with each giggle. If you want to read more about it, here is an incredible article from Scientific America that will give you all the science based reasons you should be laughing. For those of you who just want to crack a smile though, check out this weeks mood booster which is a video made to honor National Tell a Joke Day (officially August 16th,) and watch how much happier and more well you can feel with just a simple joke. I promise myself almost every morning that I'll meditate and if I'm being honest, it's only 50% of the time that I hold true to that promise. Once I walk out the door or get going into my day, I forget about my meditation practice until I am stressed out and forced to take a time out, but what if it didn't have to be that way?
The good news is, it doesn't! Research actually shows that if you are trying to establish a meditation routine, one of the best places to do it is actually at a work, and the results are always a more happy and more peaceful state. So how can you get Zen? And why do you want to add this 3 min practice to your life? Find out now as Lucia is joined by meditation guru Swami Varadan. Swami and Lucia will share their own personal experiences with meditation at work, how and why you MUST give it a try, and the results that will lead to a happier and healthier work life! (Disclaimer: this movie may not be suitable for younger seekers.)
I was sick last weekend and took some time for R&R that helped clear up my cold with a quickness. (That, a heavy dose of Vitamin C and some of my magic smoothie potion. Will share more on that in another post!) While I was relaxing I wanted to watch a movie to lift my mood, self esteem and do more than just make me laugh. I found one that accomplished it all, I Feel Pretty! Full disclosure, I am not a huge Amy Schumer fan. (Sorry Amy!) Yet this movie hit the spot. Here is why:

I had not worked out and had a list a mile long to accomplish. I needed a mood booster. Luckily, at this point, I have come far enough in my journey to know that things like sugar or copious amounts of coffee don't boost my mood, but make it worse. Music always seems to hit the spot.
Being a musician, I have always found that there is just something magical in the progression of finely strung together notes that can change the way I am thinking or feeling. Getting lost in a rhythm, or the words of a melody makes everything seem okay, if even for the three minute duration of the song. Music has been a root source of motivation since I can remember. It can make me weep, make me forget a bad day and most importantly, make me dance. Life is stressful, adulting isn't always fun, so when there is a chance to embrace the things that bring me intense amounts of joy, I take them and one of this things has always been and will always be, music.
Families come with all sorts of dysfunction, but one pervasive issue plaguing families are individuals with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Individuals who are truly narcissist can cause great tense and strife in families and leave use confused by their actions and sometimes our own.
So what is NPD? Does a family member, friend or significant other have this issue? On today's show Lucia talks about simple ways to spot the disorder and what to do if you know someone in your life who suffers from it as well. She is joined by Family Life Coach and Blended and Black Founder, Naja Hall, as they discuss this issue plaguing families, especially at the holiday time!
