Keeping Calm & Carrying On: One Way To ACTUALLY Do It

I'm stressed out today. I had knee surgery three months ago and somewhere in between then and the holidays, a lot of my own personal self care took a small hit.  Because I know the value of it, I never let it slide too far, but this morning I woke up in a funk. I shut off my work out DVD and the instructor who just said push harder and realized, what I really needed was to not sweat this one out, but sit this one out.  So that's what I did.

I grabbed my morning reflections book and put on my aromatherapy mister, pictured below, filled with orange citrus.  The benefits of orange citrus are many and you can read all about those here, but somewhere between my reading and sitting and smelling, even for five minutes, I found a sense of calm again and was read to get my day re-started.

​I know we all have limited time and does that mean for today my workout schedule may take a hit? Yes. But my mental and emotional and spiritual fitness needed some attention and some citrus:)  Sometimes we need to fit in activities wherever we can sneak them in and if that's during my workout time for today, that will have to be where it fits in.​

​I hope today you can sneak in a break for yourself.  Maybe it will be a five minute breathing exercise in the bathroom, or a scheduled aromatherapy break, but whatever it is - it will be worth it.
