The breath of fire comes from Kundalini Yoga and helps us release anxiety and stress and strengthens the nervous system. It helps strengthen our 'gut' feelings. In my opinion, we are born with a clean and clear gut, but through the years the gut gets dirty and messy because we listen to other people's opinion and we live in societies molds, rather than our own.
