About Marshal Szyndlar Co Founder/Head Coach Crossfit Override CF L1 Certified CPR & AED I grew up in a very physical lifestyle, being one of 5 boys. Trying any physical activity I was exposed to at the time from pond hockey, karate, running, swimming, biking, climbing, wrestling, the push game, and anything that could challenge me physically. During my high school career, I was a varsity letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. During my senior year, I would focus on just playing baseball, in the hopes of going on to pitch in college. My college baseball career was cut short when I blew my knee out playing pickup basketball in the fall semester of my freshman year. I started my own rehab process and turns out 12oz curls are not a great exercise to rehab a knee, nor are they great for building real value or self-esteem within yourself.
Lucky for me I soon found my new passion in coaching. I got a job working as a pitching instructor at a baseball training facility and I started living my double life. I would party all night with my buddies and teach the youth during the day. I felt stuck in purgatory pushing myself deeper down with drugs and alcohol, putting on a front to impress people, hiding who I really was, but lucky for me I still had to coach in the morning. It gave me a deeper meaning and purpose I needed to hold on to. It was coaching that helped me realize within myself what I needed to do. Even luckier for me I soon found Crossfit! My first WOD was as I know like to say "my saving Grace” It took me about 8 minutes to finish the 30 reps of clean and jerks from hell but from that point on I could see the light at the end of a tunnel I felt trapped in for so long. Fast-forward 6 years. I have worked in multiple gyms across Connecticut (Healthtrax Fitness and wellness, Crossfit Oakville/IAP, and Crossfit Hook’d) and co-founded CrossFit Override in Thomaston CT. Not a day goes by that I am not reading and listening to different health and fitness, strength and conditioning, mindset or movement coaches on the greatest and latest information, data or experiences on everything and anything health and fitness. helping others build their path to health and fitness. Crossfit has changed my life in so many ways both physical and mental, I am much stronger than I have ever been in my entire life. More disciplined, confident, and healthier! I am very grateful to wake up every day with a passion to learn and grow and help others learn and grow as well. #overrideovereverything
