We’re continuing our series on anxiety in 2020 with an interesting and unique tool called floating. Floating, also known as floatation therapy, and R.E.S.T. (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) is a process whereby almost all external stimuli is reduced. Floating can provide you with the perfect space for introspection, personal growth, self-awareness, and can help those who might suffer from PTSD and trauma. Floating has also shown to be effective in decreasing the effects of anxiety and depression, as well as increasing calmness, mindfulness, and sense of well-being. Join Lucia and her guest Sarah LaTeano, founder of Float 41 a floatation therapy center in West Hartford, CT as we explore floatation therapy: what it is, how it works, its many benefits, and how it can help you. Sarah also shares her own story and personal connection with floating, and how floating became an important part of her self-care and personal growth journey. Are you curious? Do you have questions? Listen to this episode HERE About Sarah I am Sarah and together with my husband Ryan and our two beautiful children Easton and Callie we have set out on this incredible journey of opening a float center and we are excited to share this experience with all of you.
I have been in the military for almost 15 years and Ryan is a home improvement contractor, to say our lives are busy is an understatement. Over the past couple of years juggling two extremely demanding careers and two young kids immersed in multiple activities we found ourselves stretched paper thin, non-communicative, and nearly nonexistent to our family and friends. In January 2018 after listening to countless Joe Rogan podcasts we finally had our first float at Euphoria Float Spa in hopes of providing a little bit of relief from the stress and anxiety that filled our lives. Little did we know that those 60 minutes in the float tank would change our lives forever. As we were driving home in complete silence we both turned and looked at each other and instantly knew that this feeling we had was real and this was what we were meant to do. We got home and immediately starting researching anything and everything we could about floating to see if opening a float center was remotely feasible. We spent the next 10 months traveling around the country, listening to over 300 hours of podcasts, and writing a business plan all between the hours of 9-12 every night, slowly but surely our dream started to come together. It took a lot of effort and patience...we were rejected by multiple banks however, we finally found an organization that believed in us and what we were doing and successfully secured our funding. Floating has had such a positive impact on our lives and we are thrilled to be bringing it to our family, friends, and community. We look forward to meeting all of you and helping you discover your floating journey. Lots of love, Sarah, Ryan, Easton, & Callie <3
