Spring is here and summer has almost arrived! While it is so wonderful to enjoy the flowers and opening up the windows again, with the sunshine comes the season of deer ticks and unfortunately most have us need to think about how to prevent Lyme Disease. One out of every four or five deer ticks carry the dreaded disease, and many of us may even know someone who has been affected. It’s scary, especially for parents! The CDC estimates that 30,000 people are infected each year, but many other estimates are higher, with some being even ten times higher. While we don’t want anyone to avoid enjoying the outdoors, we DO wish to see you stepping outside wisely. And so we’ve provided some methods below which will help in preventing Lyme Disease.

Do you ever feel so stressed or overwhelmed that you find yourself blinking back tears at the sight of the house or piles of laundry? I do. Sometimes I even pick it up and throw it across the room as hard as I can when no one is looking. I catch myself rushing sometimes for no reason and feeling anxious. On days like these, all I want to do is collapse on the bed and veg out to romantic comedies with boxes of munchies. On the seldom occasion when I actually have the opportunity to do just that, it is wonderful, but most of the time I need to make dinner for my daughter, read books, clean up the house, and work. As a former division one athlete, exercise has always been a huge part of my life and there is no doubt that there is a link between mental health and exercise. (In fact, podcast coming soon on why!) When I injured my knee, I not only lost the mental health aspect of exercise, but the social aspects as well. I lost my community at my gym and people that cheered me on while I worked out and that I carried with me in life and throughout my day. Luckily, I am back in the gym and back to a more sound mind, body, spirit and community that surrounds me. I know the importance of sport, but I really know the value for our lives that the community of exercise and sport brings - and that is what I think fuels my body the most! We all have heard that phrase "retail therapy," but did you know know shopping can actually be good for you? Want to know why? Check out our video below or here! Happy Shopping (in moderation:) Seekers!
Words so sweet they'll make your heart melt and a melody to match. There's nothing more to say, except enjoy this weeks Music Therapy Monday Seekers!

By Contributor: Jen Thompson "I made a huge to do list for today. I just can't figure out who's going to do it." - coolfunnyquotes.com In the rush of everyday life, commuting, multiple obligations and relationships, and messages staring at you from your phone that you still haven’t responded to, it is so easy to forget to have fun. It is too easy to rush toward the fun you are going to have later--tonight, this weekend, next month--but forget to have some fun right now.
With so many stories, song and films telling us what we need to be happy, "Kings & Queens" hits us right at the heart. It reminds us that we don't need to be anything other than ourselves with the ones we love.
Songs like this are what we thrive on at WellSeekers. Not only do they uplift us, but they help us to realize that it is not "things" that make us happy (because they don't:) Love, connection, and community are what will bring us the peace and joy we seek. And so we at Wellseekers hope you find it here and in songs like these! xoxo Lucia |
